Crescent Moon (2012 August 18)
The young Moon returns to the evening sky as a slender crescent visible shortly after sunset.
The Moon in the image is about 25 hours old (New on the 17th, at 17:55). Over the next few evenings it will be a beautiful sight in the west at dusk as it passes by the prominent trio of Spica, Mars and Saturn, being particularly charming tomorrow, Tuesday August 21.
