Saturn and Mars, together with Spica, make a prominent line of stars in the evening sky tonight.

The rapid motion of the Red Planet is particularly obvious in the evening sky over the next few days, as Mars speeds between Spica and slow-moving Saturn, moving upward in the evening sky (see their positions last night).

The image to the right is a 25-minute unguided exposure showing the beautifully coloured trails of Spica and the two planets.
