The IAU Committee on Small Bodies Nomenclature has sanctioned the new name for the first moon of the transneptunian minor planet (50000) Quaoar: "Weywot".

Weywot is the sky god of the Tongva people (a Native American group who inhabited the area in Los Angeles County, California, before the arrival of Europeans) and is the son and first creation of the creator god Quaoar.

nothing more to see. please move along.
