Danie Cronje recently spent a few days in Zermatt in Switzerland and brought back some lovely photos. Two of them are of astronomical interest.
One photo shows the Kulm hotel with its rooftop observatories. The other pic shows two nearby mountain peaks.
Gornergrat is a ridge in the Swiss Alps, and at 3,135-m altitude sits the Kulm hotel. Atop the hotel is the now-defunct TIRGO (Telescopio Infrarosso del Gornergrat) 1.5-m infrared telescope.
Nearby, are the mountain pair named Castor and Pollux (below). I wonder when they were named.
